Education In Muskingum County

From preschool to graduate degrees, Muskingum County offers a wide range of educational opportunities. Over the past ten years, the number of adults age 25 and older not only completing their basic education, but obtaining advanced degrees, has increased steadily. With the array of local post-secondary educational offerings by Muskingum University, Ohio University Zanesville, and Zane State College, as well as adult education programs at Mid East Career & Technology Center, Muskingum County is able to locally provide hands on educational opportunities. One of the most exciting developments is the Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine (STEMM) Center on the campus of Zane State.

Muskingum County is home to six public school districts and one private Catholic school: Zanesville City Schools, East Muskingum Local Schools, West Muskingum Local Schools, Tri Valley Local Schools, Maysville Local Schools, Franklin Local Schools and Bishop Rosecrans. All of the Muskingum County School Districts meet or exceed the State of Ohio average graduation rate. The majority of the Muskingum County Schools provide the option for Advanced Placement Courses, as well as offering students the ability to take advantage of post-secondary opportunities at Ohio University Zanesville and Zane State College.
